The agreement was signed by Rosatom, Petersburg Nuclear Physics Institute (PNPI, one of the organizations of  NRC “Kurchatov Institute”)  and St. Petersburg State University (SPbU). This is the first document of this kind. Rosatom has never before provided teaching opportunities in English at the existing operators of field specific educational programs.
Teaching of nuclear physics disciplines in English will considerably reduce the courses duration while improving the understanding and studying of difficult materials. From now on advanced knowledge of Russian stops being a must for foreign students. This will substantially extend the geographic reach of teaching making it possible to involve much more students from distant countries that has taken the path of nuclear power development. Furthermore, implementation of educational programs in English may increase the competitiveness of the Russian nuclear industry on the global market of educational services in nuclear physics disciplines.
During this visit, Alexey Likhachev also had a meeting with Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the NRC “Kurchatov Institute”, and was demonstrated the science and technology, and research infrastructure of the Institute.
